Our Team
Professor Neacsu is the faculty advisor overseeing Mapping Environmental Injustice (MEI); she is passionate about engaging students on all levels with Environmental Law. She initiated this project with her 2021 Barnard Class where she teaches environmental law, policy and research as an adjunct professor. Two of her most recent environmental law articles are: The aesthetic ideology of Juliana v. United States and its impact on environmentally engaged citizenship, and "Applying Bentham’s Theory of Fallacies to Chief Justice Roberts’ Reasoning in West Virginia v. EPA" 61 Duq. L. Ashley Ahn, BC ‘26
Ashley is a writer whose work spans nonfiction, critical essays, fiction, and poetry, with a focus on how environmental and social issues shape lived experience. She is particularly interested in how narrative and language can make complex topics more accessible and emotionally resonant. She studied Philosophy at Barnard College, concentrating on ethics, political theory, and eco-feminism. In Spring 2025, Ashley served as the student project manager of MEI, where she brought together her academic background and creative practice to support accessible, justice-oriented environmental research.
Skylar Nieman, BC ‘24
Skylar is a senior at Barnard College majoring in U.S. History and the second student project manager of MEI. As a climate organizer involved with groups such as Sunrise Movement NYC and various action-based coalitions, she is invested in the national transition to a Green New Deal and radical climate justice. As a past student of Prof. Dana and TA Havah, she learned about the power of Environmental Law to protect communities vulnerable to the fossil fuel industry. She is also interested in the potential collaboration between Environmental Law and Labor Law.
Havah Bernstein, BC ‘23
As a senior at Barnard College majoring in Political Economics, Havah was the first student project manager of MEI, in the Spring ‘23 semester. She is passionate about creating tools that work to combat poverty and inequality. She was a student for Prof. Dana, where she discovered her interest in environmental law as a tool to combat economic disparities.
